The employees
of W R Grace and the surrounding community of Libby, Montana have
been affected with asbestosis related diseases.
The company, however, ignored the very same people who
worked to make profits for the company until the EPA got involved.
The W R Grace
lawsuit involves the fact that the company would not allow the EPA
to access their site for cleanup purposes.
Thus, as part of the settlement, “W.R. Grace agreed to
provide additional health benefits to Libby, Montana, residents at
a cost of $2.75 million. W.R. Grace also agreed to a $71,000 civil
penalty claim as part of the settlement.”
