Accutane is prescribed acne medication that is taken orally, is manufactured by Hoffmann-La Roche, and is the company's number one selling product.

Side effects linked to this medication include birth defects and psychiatric disorders which can lead to depression and suicide.

Hoffmann-La Roche was asked by the FDA to place warnings on Accutane that include the psychiatric disorder of suicide. The manufacturer ignored the request and advertised instead that Accutane decreases the chances of suicide brought on by depression because it treats acne.
