Ephedra Attorneys

The personal injuries caused by Ephedra products has asked the question of how regulators should spend their resources.  That is, should regulators also be policing the diet industry and its products?

In 1999, the FDA tried to do its part by controlling the dosage amounts of Ephedra, but because of criticism by congressional investigators, the FDA stopped trying to regulate this stimulant.  Also, in 1997, the FDA proposed safety regulations regarding Ephedrine dietary supplements when the Deputy Commissioner of Food and Drugs, Dr. Michael Friedman, said that  “consumers should be aware that just because a product is labeled ‘natural’ or from an herbal source it is not guaranteed to be safe.”

This statement warns the public of misleading advertising of supplements including Ephedra products.

If you or your loved one has become seriously ill because of use of an Ephedra product, contact your attorney.
