Ephedra Lawsuit

Ephedra is a drug included in various weight loss pills and eating suppression pills.  It is also used in nasal decongestant and asthma medications.  Other products where it has been used include common cold, hay fever/allergies, cough, increased energy, and weight lifting formulas.

After a study made by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), findings showed that the use of Ephedra may be fatal or cause serious injury.

This stimulant is also called Ma Huang, Xenadrine, Metabolife, Desert Tea or Mormon Tea.

Cytodyne Technologies, the makers of products that contain Ephedra are currently fighting a class action lawsuit that alleges that the company's inaccurate advertising of Ephedra's safety and energy enhancement capabilities are not supported by research.

Ephedra has been associated with increased blood pressure and heartbeat and the deaths of individuals, including MLB player, Steve Bechler.

In May, 2001, the National Football League was the first sports organization that stopped the use of Ephedra.
