| A
number of ceoxx litigation have started due to the fact that
Merck recalled their arthritis and pain drug, Vioxx, on
September 30, 2004. Ceoxx is the name for Vioxx outside of
the United States. Thus, any litigation pertaining to
Vioxx will also apply to Ceoxx--both drugs are called Rofecoxib--and
some lawsuits may include this term to cover both brand names of
Rofecoxib. Why the
litigation? A 3-year study showed that patients
who did not have any previous heart disease and who took Ceoxx
or Vioxx increased their chances for stroke or heart attack as
opposed to patients who took placebo. If Merck knew of
this study and delayed the withdrawal of their billion-dollar
drug, and this may only be one of the reasons, in addition to
the suffering of you and your loved one, then litigation seems
to be the next step. As long as the people running
companies continue to consciously profit from the deadly heart
attacks of their patients, litigation will continue.
