merck ceoxx recall

merck ceoxx recall began on September 30, 2004.  Ceoxx is the brand name used for other countries while Vioxx is the brand name used for the United States.  Both are a drug called Rofecoxib, made to relieve arthritis and pain.  The same life-threatening side effects of strokes and heart attacks apply to Ceoxx and Vioxx.

Why the recall?  A 3-year study showed that patients who took Vioxx or Ceoxx for more than 18 months have a higher chance of having a heart attack or stroke compared to patients who were taking placebo.

The recall of Ceoxx and Vioxx have been widely advertised.  You may have even seen billboards asking if you or your loved one have suffered and to call the number on the billboard.

Call your doctor now if you need medical attention.
