Teens paxil®  Paroxetine hydrochloride or Paxil® is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.  It is a member of a newer class of antidepressant medications which are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).  SSRIs block the uptake of serotonin in the blood.  It has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for several different depression disorders in children, teens and adults.   GlaxoSmithKline has recently been in the spotlight for not disclosing the risk of suicidal tendencies in children and adolescents as well as downplaying the fact that there are significant withdrawal symptoms.
